Welcome to Sword of Creation
Thanks for giving the site a look. This board is an attempt to compliment some of the other offerings the Exalted community and create a visible and open place for people to see just how active and creative it currently is. It aims to promote discussion and especially creative content without them burying each other and let both casual and long standing community members more easily access homebrew and materials that will help or inspite them.
The post below this one has a bit of an FAQ for anyone who might find it useful. I'm not a coder or web designer, this board is bolted together out of discovered scraps of the phpBB platform and I've tried to avoid as much jank as possible but there's going to be the odd wrinkle. If something doesn't work or you think could be better let me know and I'll do my best.
Before posting make sure you read any additional guidelines in the relevant boards, as well as taking a look at the RULES. Some boards will have their own suggestions such as including tags in post titles to help people searching for content in future.
Also make sure you check out whether we have any CONTESTS we're running as a starting place for posting your own stuff or what others are proud of. Also make sure you check out the MEDIA page since there is a bunch of podcasts and videos being put out frequently that isn't getting highlighted nearly enough.
If you like what you see here please share, post and help us to get the word out! We really need help to pad the forum out with great content and are thinking of ways to recognise people who put in the work. Right now every post, comment and reply even if it's just a line or two is going to be huge. And thanking posts is encouraged! If you like what you see, hit the thumbs up button and let the poster know you appreciate it.

What can I post?
We want to encourage people to have the discussions they want and post as much of their fanwork and homebrew as they have. If it's relevant to Exalted regardless of what edition then we want to see it. We're aiming not to be as restrictive on content as the official forums or somewhere like facebook or tumblr and some NSFW is accepted within reason. This depends on the type of content you're posting and you can see our guidelines in the Rules section.
How do I include images in my posts?
Right now the ability to upload images directly to the form should be turned off. We're starting small and hosting images here seems a great way for things to break or to blaze past our data limits. Instead there's a few ways ways you can include images in posts.
The first is to simply host the image off site and link it into your post. You can either do this by typing [/img] tags and inserting your URL between them, or by clicking the little picture frame icon when making your post and inserting it this way. Your images will be resized automatically when the final post is made but you may wish to consider using the tags manually as the button doesn't take this into account when previewing your images.
Alternatively you can upload images directly to our imgur account while making your post. Look for the imgur tab below where you can submit your post and click the 'upload to imgur' button. This will let you select one or more image files to directly upload and will generate links for you ready to drop into your post. Just copy the URLs like above or hit the add to post button. This might be easier if you're uploading a lot of images or particularly large ones. We are however limited to 50 uploads per hour as a site so if you find it's not working you may wish to try again later.
Just be aware that doing things this way means using an API to upload your image with an imgur account we're managing. It means your image will be getting hosted along with everything else on this board (including potentially NSFW content). Anyone uploading inappropriate content to this account will be treated as if they did so to the forum itself regardless of if they include it in a post.
All images are automatically resized for display once posted and expand when clicked on. If you are having trouble editting your post with large images, trying hitting the source button
What is the contests board for?
I'm hoping to start running creation contests for fanworks which will live on this board. The idea is that people will be encouraged to submit their homebrew and works by linking their posts from other boards to the contest page. When the contest is up winners will be announced along with any prizes there are. Different contests will hopefully include different varieties of content from homebrew charms and mechanics to art and writing.
What is the articles board for?
The idea is to have this place as a feed for official OPP news (such as Monday Meeting notes), longer form articles people have written and hopefully contributions from the devs. Keeping them seperate on their own board like this is intended to make sure they aren't cluttering the main discussion forums or getting lost there, without needing to sticky post everything.
This is one of the site features we're still a little unsure on how we want it to look, if we're going to keep it at all, so feel free to comment here in the feedback forum if you have any opinions on it.
I'd rather a cleaner look for the index page than the current grids, can I change it?
If you prefer a more simplified and cleaner look for the home page there's an alternative skin for the board that allows this. Head to the user control panel in your profile side bar and under Board Preferences there's the option to change the skin. "Simple List" is the one you're looking for
Can I hide things as spoilers?
Absolutely. When making your post you just need to click the icon that has an eye with a line crossed through it, and make sure your spoiler is between the tags
How do I mention someone in my posts?
Just type @ and start to write their username after it, then select the user you want. This will send them a notification to take a look at your post. Alternatively you can manually use [/mention] tags with the username inside
What is the Contributor group for? Do they have any extra powers?
This is another idea we're going to be trialling. We want to be able to make the boards more prominent contributors visible as recognition of their efforts and as an encouragement to share what you're working on. This can be any form of fanwork and there's no set rules or benchmarks for it. It can be requested or handed out by mods to anyone they think has earnt it.
This group doesn't have any additional powers or functions over normal users for now, it's just a little recognition. Again, if you have any views on this let us know here and we can keep it in mind as we go forward
Can I turn off notifications for likes?
You can. You'll find the option in the user control panel on your profile under board preferences > edit notification options
How do I bookmark and subscribe?
There are bookmark and subscribe buttons above and below every thread and you can manage them from your user control panel, or by clicking 'view bookmarks' on the sidebar. You can also subscribe to entire forums if you want by clicking the button in the forum's footer
The text editor stays light when I switch to dark mode
The current editor is the best solution I've been able to find to allow robust and simple editting of posts. Unfortunately it can only have 1 skin set per style and doesn't recognise the change in dark mode. You can however change it to a dark version in the User Control Panel > Board Preferences > Edit global settings and changing the board style to 'Milk v2 - Dark Editor'
I know this spoils having the light/dark switcher slightly but it's the best I've been able to do for now without losing other functionality.
If there's anything else you think should be included here for new users, let me know below.
