Your stuff is always so detailed and you write so much that it's hard to get through it all, but I absolutely agree with your core premise.
the Corebook definitely felt like it didn't have much respect for ranged weapons or armor, Evocations wise. Even though I know you redid Volcano Cutter as well, the difference between it and Black Wind and Dauntless just feels crazy when you look at them in the core book.

Yea the core artifacts were done dirty, it's part of the reason I'm redoing some of them. Hunting Hawk in particular was bad as it felt the options for ranged weapons was limited (This is hardly a new thing. The unofficial 1e wiki and the 2e wiki you could have pages upon pages of close combat weapons. Ranged weapons felt as if it were a fraction of that).
